No! Physical items can also be picked up from and returned to the NFC Live Oak and Perry Locations, it just might take us a day or so to arrange transport of the item(s).

We also have a dropbox by our patio windows for easy return 24/7.

I'm an NFC student/employee but can't access library databases, Niche Academy tutorials, etc.

61 views   |   1 Vote this question as useful.   0 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on May 21, 2026    Library Technology

There's a few possibilities:

  1. There's an outage of some kind.
  2. Your information was just recently added and hasn't synced yet. Try again in a few hours or the next day if you are brand new.
  3. Something in your information is incorrect (like a missing ZIP code, for instance) and we need to fix it to prompt the sync.
  4. Your WiFi network or device settings are blocking our content (common for dual enrolled students using high school devices at their high schools).

We encourage you to try troubleshooting before contacting NFC: clearing your history/cache/cookies, using a different browser, using a private/incognito window, using a different WiFi network, enabling pop-ups, etc.

Email details and screenshots to library@nfc.edu. We will inspect and have the problem corrected if possible on our end.

The Library has roughly 30,000 physical items and hundreds of thousands of digital materials.

  • General Circulation - Thousands of titles to support NFC's academic programs and general knowledge or leisure reading.
  • Audiovisual - Thousands of DVDs split into two groups: academic (arranged by call number) and entertainment (arranged alphabetically by title). We also have some CDs and audiobooks.
  • Children's Collection - Limited compared to your local public library.
  • Florida Collection & Florida Reserves - Books about Florida or by Florida authors.
  • Periodicals - Recent magazines and local newspapers are available at the circulation desk.
  • In storage - These must be found in the Library Catalog and/or asked for specifically for library staff to retrieve from storage for you. They are for in-house use only.
    • Archives - Yearbooks and other archival materials. We are actively working on scanning some archival materials to make them digitally accessible.
    • Reference - Encyclopedias and more.
    • Reserves - Textbooks and other items faculty have asked to be added to this collection.
  • Digital materials - NFC students and employees can access e-books, e-audiobooks, videos, audio files, images, articles, journals, and more through our Library Databases and Library Catalog & Discovery page.

NFC students and employees can also request digital and physical items we don't have from the other public Florida colleges and universities via UBorrow Requests through our Discovery page.

Community patrons from NFC's six-county district may utilize our 24/7 Wifi, books, audiobooks, CDs, and DVDs. They may make themselves at home in our stacks, seating areas by the patio windows, and on the patio itself.

The Tutor Lab, Study Zone, computers, and printers are reserved for students. Community patrons may find more help and resources available through their local public library.

Learn more about community patrons in our Library Guidelines.

Does the library have textbooks?

We do not typically purchase textbooks for our collection, but we do have some older editions of textbooks in general Circulation (available for borrowing) and some on our Reserves shelf (for in-house use only). Faculty are encouraged to donate current textbooks to be added to the Reserves shelf.

We happily assist students with ordering and accessing their textbooks.

Can I access library resources between semesters OR after I graduate/retire?

46 views   |   0 Vote this question as useful.   0 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Apr 13, 2026    Library

Students between terms

As long as you are registered for the next term, we consider you an active student. You may therefore utilize everything in the building like normal, and we can manually give you access to our online resources if you are unable to access them.

Graduates & Retirees

Once you leave NFC, we consider you a community patron, so our computers/printers are off limits with few exceptions for NFC-specific purposes (like requesting an NFC transcript online). Likewise, you will not have access to most online library resources. However, if you need to retrieve something (like a resume you created and saved in one of our databases), we can do our best to give you temporary access to retrieve such things.

What is Critter Quest?

17 views   |   0 Vote this question as useful.   0 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on May 21, 2026

Critter Quest is an opportunity for folks to explore areas of the building they don't typically visit, and is a fun, low-stakes activity to do during a study break.

Hundreds of miniature animal figurines are hidden throughout the lobby, stacks, conference room, and study room. Each "critter" is numbered on the bottom, and patrons should return the critter at the front desk and add their name to the list of critter-finders. We re-hide the critters once most have been found, so there is no limit to how many critters a person is allowed to find.

Critters are not hidden in the Tutor Lab "Pit" area, bathrooms, or staff-only areas.
