What kinds of collections does the library have?
The Library has roughly 30,000 physical items and hundreds of thousands of digital materials.
- General Circulation - Thousands of titles to support NFC's academic programs and general knowledge or leisure reading.
- Audiovisual - Thousands of DVDs split into two groups: academic (arranged by call number) and entertainment (arranged alphabetically by title). We also have some CDs and audiobooks.
- Children's Collection - Limited compared to your local public library.
- Florida Collection & Florida Reserves - Books about Florida or by Florida authors.
- Periodicals - Recent magazines and local newspapers are available at the circulation desk.
- In storage - These must be found in the Library Catalog and/or asked for specifically for library staff to retrieve from storage for you. They are for in-house use only.
- Archives - NFC yearbooks and other archival materials. Library staff can retrieve specific items from storage for you, but they cannot leave the building. We are actively working on scanning some archival materials to make them digitally accessible.
- Reference - Encyclopedias and more.
- Reserves - Textbooks and other items faculty have asked to be added to this collection.
- Digital materials - NFC students and employees can access e-books, e-audiobooks, videos, audio files, images, articles, journals, and more through our Library Databases and Library Catalog and Discovery page.
- Other libraries - NFC students and employees can request digital and physical items from the other public Florida colleges and universities via UBorrow Requests through our Discovery page.
